2,000km Virtual Challenge for Paediatrics, UHG

Twenty-six of our Staff are setting off on a virtual challenge to walk up & down the length of Ireland over the coming weeks, that’s 2,000km, all to fundraise money to upgrade the playground in St. Bernadette’s Children’s Unit in University Hospital Galway.

Can you help us reach our fundraising target of €2,000, a euro per kilometre!

Previously, we have helped fundraise to install the existing playground & are now hoping to raise enough money to add more items so children of all abilities have an outdoor space to enjoy when they have to be in hospital for any reason.

‘We have twenty-six eager staff taking part in our Virtual Challenge commencing on the 10th May. We have previously climbed Croagh Patrick, rowed rowing machines on the Prom & jumped from airplanes to fundraise for the current playground. We are proud to take part in this new challenge to upgrade the playground again which is such an important space in the paediatric unit.’ said Lisa Stewart of St. Anthony’s & Claddagh Credit Union. ‘At some point or other, each of us have had our own children or known children that have had to attend the paediatric unit & we are happy to be able to support the unit & staff in return again.’

Anne Matthews, Clinical Nurse Manager of the Paediatric Unit said – ‘We are delighted with the ongoing support from St. Anthony’s & Claddagh Credit Union over the last number of years & are excited to see what will come from next fundraising challenge. Our Staff have already seen what a huge benefit the outdoor area & playground is for our patients & their families.’

Can you help us reach our target?
